Table: Built to Gather explores the table as more than a piece of furniture—it is a modular object, a narrative witness, and a facilitator of human connection. Through typeface design, storytelling, and interactive installations, this thesis reimagines the table as a space where creativity, identity, power, and memory intersect. Inspired by personal experiences, historical references like The Dinner Party, and phrases such as “a seat at the table,” the project unfolds in three parts: Table Creates (a modular typeface that physically assembles like furniture), Table Talks (five table-narrated stories addressing issues like gender inequality, consumerism, and discrimination), and Table Cares (a participatory game prompting reflection on privilege and societal access). Together, these works transform the table into a lens for exploring design, identity, and dialogue—reminding us that everyday objects silently shape and reflect who we are.
