Decorative domestic surfaces become sites for storytelling, replacing familiar patterns with imagery pulled from the lives of Lizzie Borden, Tonya Harding, and Martha Stewart, three American women accused of crimes. This thesis questions how women’s lives can be reduced and consumed, and transforms the domestic space into a site of narrative tension and interest.
